Tattoo needles are different from the needles used in hypodermic syringes. Tattoo machine needles are solid state like a pole, like a nail or a sewing needle, and not hollow like a hypodermic syringe or a straw for passing liquid.

Tattooing needles are also finer and short than hypodermic syringes are. Tattoos are not created in the manner that a hypodermic injection is done, the ink is not inserted by a plunging system which squirts the ink into the skin, but rather the ink is pushed into the skin.
